JOB SUMMARY
The Operations Supervisor will oversee and manage the daily outbound logistics operations within a high-volume apparel consumer goods distribution center. This role focuses on ensuring efficient and accurate processing of shipments, maximizing productivity, and maintaining a safe and compliant work environment for the outbound team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Accurately fulfills the service-level agreements (SLAs) for outbound processes.
- Supervises Closeout, Packing, and Dock employees and oversees daily outbound operations.
- Motivates and coaches warehouse employees for maximum productivity while adhering to all compliance and safety regulations specific to outbound logistics.
- Ensures the proper and safe operation of machinery and equipment used in outbound processes.
- Enforces all company rules and regulations and ensures SOPs and policy documentation relevant to outbound operations are being adhered to.
- Owns the Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification process for the outbound team.
- Shares performance feedback with subordinates and documents coaching conversations related to outbound performance.
- Manages budget and identifies cost savings initiatives within the outbound logistics function.
- Monitors the safety and efficiency of outbound processes, proactively identifying and addressing issues.
- Communicates timelines and potential disruptions in outbound operations to business stakeholders.
- Ensures proper security measures are followed within the outbound work areas.
- Creates reports on outbound performance, safety, and other relevant occurrences for supervisors and other relevant staff.
- Ensures task-relevant safety procedures are followed for all outbound work performed.
- Monitors and approves employee timecards daily for the outbound team.
- Performs other tasks as assigned related to outbound logistics.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES
- Strong understanding of outbound logistics processes in a high-volume distribution center.
- Proficiency in supervising and motivating warehouse personnel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak with all levels of employees and team members.
- Great time management, organization, and prioritization abilities within a fast-paced environment.
- Keen attention to detail and efficient problem-solving skills related to outbound operations.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software.
- Basic understanding of budget management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees Closeout, Packing, and Dock personnel.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Four-year degree or equivalent work experience in Outbound Logistics or a related field preferred.
