Job Overview: Operates landscaping and construction heavy equipment; ensuring landscaping and snow removal projects are completed to provide a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment for guests and team members. Maintains the property traffic and directional functionality through painting, maintenance, and installation of traffic control devices in the roadways, parking lots, and parking garages. *May direct activities of additional positions as described under occasional tasks.
Maximize Your Impact: The Responsibilities You’ll Own:
- Operates all heavy landscaping and construction equipment for large-scale landscaping, snow removal, and operational functions. Driving is an essential function of this job. Employees must adhere to the driving standards determined by the SMSC.
- Completes maintenance and preventative maintenance of parking facilities, including sweeping, scrubbing, pressure washing, sealing of decks, and repairs of asphalt on local roadways and parking lots.
- Performs outdoor striping/painting of parking lots, garages, and roadways throughout SMSC-owned property.
- Operates specialized equipment such as trenchers, edgers, sod cutters, and chainsaws for landscape repairs and maintenance. Plants, prunes, and fertilizes all trees, shrubs, and flowers, and mixes and applies chemicals to turf areas.
- Supports other Enterprise departments, Tribal Operations, and the Community with special projects such as assisting with outdoor stage and amphitheater setups, unloading tractor/trailers, and striping temporary parking areas.
- Provides traffic control for special events, including placing and removing signs, cones, and barricades.
- Maintains and repairs equipment, including performing welding, fabrication, and repairs on vehicles and equipment.
- Performs in the capacity of an Outside Maintenance Specialist.
- Maintains flags, poles, and related hardware throughout the SMSC property.
- May direct the work activities of the Outside Maintenance Specialist and Grounds Specialist positions for general shift work and for snow removal purposes.
Work Requirements:
- Combination of 2 years’ experience operating landscape or heavy construction equipment.
- 1 year experience operating snow plow equipment including heavy construction equipment and tree felling.
- Ability to perform basic repairs and preventive maintenance on small and large equipment; electrical and battery operated equipment.
- Chainsaw safety, maintenance, use and handling certificate or able to obtain.
- Class A CDL Driver's License Required - training provided by SMS within 1 year of hire.
- This position is subject to testing for drugs (THC included) & alcohol in accordance with the Federal Department of Transportation Regulations as well as the SMSC’s Drug / THC and Alcohol Policy.
