Summary/Objective
The Electrical Controls Engineer / PLC Programmer will program, test, and maintain large-scale electrical/electronic equipment and machinery for automated manufacturing.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Program, test, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems, integrating with devices such as servo drives, vision systems, and pneumatic/hydraulic components.
- Review specifications, standards, and project scope to ensure compliance and proper integration.
- Assist with sales orders and project reviews, including job specifications.
- Design control requirements, generate sequences of operations, review cycle time studies, and develop design packages and logic for Smart displays (HMI).
- Program, install, and support PLC hardware and software, collaborating with the team to develop innovative solutions.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience as a Siemens PLC programmer preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing environments and with capital equipment desired.
- Proven ability to program motion control systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and understand electrical drawings.
- Experience troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with network protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet, and Profibus is preferred.
Physical Demands
This active role requires walking, bending, squatting, carrying, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or standing for extended periods. Visual acuity for close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception is necessary. The role involves reviewing designs and resolving issues on or around machinery.
Travel
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, complying with health and entry requirements of airlines and visited countries.
