As a Paramedic for Pedi-Flite, you will be at the forefront of providing primary care for ill and injured patients during their transport from the referring to the receiving facility. Your role includes relaying crucial information about patient conditions to medical control physicians, collaborating with team members to create individualized, evidence-based care plans, and strictly adhering to Pedi-Flite policies, hospital procedures, and regulatory guidelines. A Brief Overview Your responsibilities will include: Collaborating effectively with other Pedi-Flite team members to ensure high-quality pre-hospital and inter-facility advanced critical care. Transporting patients utilizing ground or air methods, adhering to hospital philosophy, protocols, and safety procedures. Assisting the team leader in obtaining relevant histories and initiating management plans for neonatal and child cases. Implementing and evaluating emergency care stabilization for acutely ill patients, whether as a team lead or in collaboration with the medical control team. Performing essential diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the paramedic scope of practice, including airway management and assessment. Attending pre-mission briefings and mission debriefings, fulfilling documentation requirements, and assisting the pilot with operational tasks as necessary. Ensuring compliance with safety protocols to protect patients, medical staff, and equipment, and conducting necessary safety briefings. Functioning as a team leader when required and delivering age and developmentally appropriate patient care. Education/Formal Training Requirements Technical Degree or Diploma in Paramedicine. Work Experience Requirements 1-3 years of experience driving an ambulance. 5-7 years as an Emergency Medical Technician. 3-5 years of experience as a Paramedic. Licenses and Certifications Requirements Class D License with F (For-Hire Endorsement) - Tennessee Motor Vehicle. Mississippi EMS Driver certification. Paramedic certification - Mississippi State Department of Health. Paramedic certification - Tennessee State Department of Health. BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - American Heart Association. Heartsaver CPR AED (CPR) - American Heart Association. Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - American Heart Association. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough understanding of emergency care procedures and their application in medical transportation. Competency in age-specific guidelines and critical interventions for diverse patient populations. Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail. Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Ability to operate independently, manage high-stress situations, and prioritize multiple tasks. Physical Demands Physical tasks include climbing, pushing, standing, walking, kneeling, and moving items weighing up to 150 lbs. Close visual acuity is necessary for assessing patients and managing data. Frequent exposure to patient body fluids and hazardous materials. Ability to quickly respond to emergencies. Weight must be within aircraft restrictions (230 lbs or less).
