Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Infusion Pharmacist and Pharmacy Director, this position performs the regular and reoccurring wholesale and direct vendor pharmaceutical ordering for Bartlett Hospital's Infusion Pharmacy. In addition, this position is responsible for daily oversight of the 340B federal drug purchasing program specifically for the Infusion Pharmacy. The incumbent operates under direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, oversees purchases of chemotherapy medications, specialty medications, and specialty supplies, as well as provides guidance and orientation to Infusion Pharmacy Technicians. This position manages the schedule for Infusion Pharmacy technician staffing.
This position acts as liaison between the Infusion Therapy Department and Infusion Pharmacy to ensure patient-specific medication regimens are fulfilled accurately. This is an advanced Pharmacy Technician role, requiring expert knowledge of pharmacy business operations, internal practices and procedures, purchasing and inventory regulation, and pharmaceutical terminology, techniques, and analytics.
This position is required to assist in the Pharmacy for lower-level pharmacy technician tasks as needed for department efficiency. Minimum Qualifications for the Job:
Education: Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Certified Board (PTCB)-approved technician training program and completion of the 340B University course within 3 months.
Preferred education: Associate degree or higher
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital pharmacy infusion environment Including compounding and handling of hazardous drugs. License(s): Valid State of Alaska Pharmacy Technician License at time of appointment and for continued employment. Certification(s):
National certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) at time of appointment and for continued employment. Completion of PTCB or ASHP approved course in Sterile Compounding within 6 months. Note:
Must obtain CE credits (20 credits in 24 months) to maintain active CPhT status Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.
External Hires:
This position starts at $35.44 per hour. Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based upon relevant experience.
