Upon completion of six months of consistent employment, there is an opportunity to obtain a wage increase up to $14.23/hour. Job Summary: As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide guidance, encouragement, support, comfort, security, and safety through relationship building and direct interaction with individuals receiving services. You will advocate for the individuals in all aspects of life - including medical and community engagement - while promoting personal choice. You will address any situations or emergencies that may arise. You will support individuals in performing essential living skills more independently, ensuring they live a life aligned with their hopes and dreams. You will provide transportation to all appointments and events as desired. You are expected to maintain documentation, perform record keeping, and participate in meetings and trainings according to regulations. This is an overnight position with approximately five hours of sleep per night; however, concerns during the night and morning hours should be addressed promptly. Qualifications and Requirements: Successfully pass a background check. Experience and/or training of at least one year working with individuals with disabilities is preferred. Computer skills supporting Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) technology and basic math skills. Ability to read, write, and solve problems effectively. Ability to recognize boundaries and demonstrate patience, self-control, and flexibility. Ability to suggest and implement strategies to improve service quality. Successful completion of medication administration training (training may be provided after hire). CPR/First Aid certification (training may be provided after hire). Mental Health certification is preferred (training may be provided after hire).
