Principal Consultant, Environmental FERC Project Manager (Principal Level) Join to apply for the Principal Consultant, Environmental FERC Project Manager (Principal Level) role at ERM . ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Environmental FERC Project Manager to support client development, new business initiatives, and industry awareness. This role requires prior consulting and FERC experience, focusing on energy projects involving permitting and compliance for Natural Gas Act-regulated projects in the U.S., including natural gas transmission and LNG. The candidate should understand the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and energy and environmental policies, drawing on a broad knowledge base. The position can be based anywhere in the U.S. The Principal Project Manager will collaborate with ERM teams to deliver industry-leading service, participate in industry groups, and stay informed on market and policy trends. Responsibilities include managing multiple projects, cultivating new business, and engaging with regulatory agencies. Projects are fast-paced, diverse, and geographically dispersed. The candidate must manage priorities effectively, demonstrate initiative, critical thinking, and creativity in research, work approaches, and issue resolution. Responsibilities Manage large, complex projects on time and within budget, including scope, resourcing, planning, and safety. Lead environmental impact assessments, permitting, and compliance during construction and operation, acting as client contact and team leader. Oversee multiple projects across the U.S., including natural gas, LNG, hydrogen, renewables, and carbon projects. Develop technical proposals, identify leads, and support business development and client relationships. Lead meetings with regulatory agencies to address requirements. Engage with agencies like FERC, USFWS, USACE, EPA, and others. Contribute expertise on environmental issues, impact assessments, and quality control. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant fields or equivalent experience. Prior consulting experience required. 6+ years (10 preferred) in environmental impact assessment and permitting on FERC projects. At least 5 years managing natural gas and LNG project permitting. Knowledge of key natural resource regulations. Experience with federal, state, and local permits. Proficiency in MS Office. Strong research and technical writing skills. Attention to detail, independence, teamwork, and excellent communication skills. Salary range: $129,195 – $152,500 USD, with potential bonuses and benefits including health insurance, 401(k), and more. Apply via ERM Careers .
