Principal (Embedded) Software Engineer, Near Santa Maria - $190,000-260,000 + benefits
Principal (C++/Rust/Flight Systems) Engineer sought for a cutting edge aerospace team at the forefront of next-generation satellite technology. We are seeking a Principal (C++/Rust/Flight Systems) Engineer to play a key role in delivering embedded flight software for a number of new projects. You will be responsible for tech leadership as well as architecture and code development - serving both as an IC and mentor to the team.
The Principal (C++/Rust/Flight Systems) Engineer will work closely with the engineering team to create requirements and then architect software solutions as well as create detailed documentation for software operations.
As a Principal (C++/Rust/Flight Systems) Engineer you will ideally have knowledge of both software and embedded systems.
Requirements
~12+ years of proven experience in software development, programming with C++ within a relevant sector (robotics/flight systems/satellite/EO)
~ Bonus points for experience development concurrent code with asynchronous Rust
~ Experience as a principal/staff/tech lead in previous role with hands on abilities and previous mentoring responsibilities
~ Experience programming on embedded ARM cores in Linux or other environments
~ Experience leading software development processes, including bug tracking or design documentation (or version control)
~ Comfortable working in a fast paced scaling environment

~ Salary of between $180-260,000 depending on experience
