Job Type Full-timeDescriptionMarket Leader in Aluminum Extrusion is seeking a saw/casting operator. Job Requirements include:Available shifts: 1st shift/3rd shift Experience is not required. Experience in laborer focused roles such as landscaping, laborer, roofing, machine operator, etc. is great but not required.Valid driver's license required.Shift: 5:00am - 2:00pm Weekends are required.Shift: 8:00pm - 5:00am Weekends are required.Responsibilities include:Saw/cast aluminum "logs".Saw OperatorPrior to cutting, inspects logs for surface and internal defects. Loads logs onto saw table as necessary. (May use forklift to lift logs.) Operates log feeder. Cuts logs into billets of prescribed length. Maintains proper flow of cutting lubricant. Determines proper cast identification for each billet; stamps each billet accordingly.Inspects cut billets.Weighs all scrap and records weight. Segregates, identifies, and disposes of scrap.Makes adjustments to and lubricates equipment as necessary; reports any unusual conditions to supervisor. Changes saw blades and cutting solution as required. Performs maintenance checks on forklift truck.Assists Cast House team with loading and unloading carts that are used to move cast logs through homogenizer furnace; may operate furnace as prescribed in operating instructions.Observes safety rules and practices; reports any unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor. Casting OperatorLoads furnace with scrap using forklift or bobcat. Prepares and adds alloying and fluxing materials. Operates controls to regulate the casting of aluminum logs according to standard operating procedures. Performs de-gassing, fluxing, skimming, and stirring operations as necessary. Checks cast book for sample data; tests and/or samples molten metal and takes corrective actions as required. Records production and other operating data.Uses crane to hook up aluminum logs and remove them from casting pit. Properly identifies and marks cooled logs.Performs periodic maintenance of the furnace as necessary, including cleaning, scraping, lubricating, adjusting, and other required functions. Reports any unusual mechanical or operating conditions to supervisor.Unloads and segregates incoming scrap as needed. Assists in identification and disposal of unwanted scrap.Cleans metallics from casting pit.
