David Mason + Associates is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our St. Louis-based team as a Project Manager for the Power + Utilities team. This position requires ten years experience in design, management, or construction of Substations. Candidates should have a working knowledge of utility, transmission, and power distribution applications and theory. The ideal candidate will also have a solid grasp of design modifications for schematic, wiring, and interconnect diagrams and hold a Professional Engineer's (PE) License in Illinois. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Review client proposals or plans to determine procedures, staffing requirements, and resource allocation for all project phases (estimating, scheduling, material purchasing, design, construction support, and close-out). Establish work plans and staffing for each project phase, including durations, hourly rates, budgets, and schedules. Read and interpret plans, sketches, and specifications. Resolve technical issues with strong analytical skills. Interpret wiring and schematic drawings, one and three-line diagrams, as well as control and logic diagrams. Serve as the primary contact for project communications between the firm and the client. Monitor project reports and design reviews to ensure adherence to standards for quality and accuracy. Ensure compliance with client standards. Prepare project reports and schedules for management and clients. Coordinate with staff to outline work plans and assign duties. Ensure all forms and scoping documents are complete and accessible for the project team. Review and direct project team approaches. Coordinate with other Project Managers and Staff Engineers for technical and non-technical requirements. Complete assigned work within schedules and budgets. Manage smaller to medium-sized projects independently. Utilize Microsoft Office tools and Document Control Management Software. Provide QA/QC support related to project design standards and client requirements. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of ten years experience in electrical power design, management, or construction. Knowledge of utility, transmission, and power distribution applications and schematic, wiring, and interconnect diagram modifications. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Effective verbal and written communication. Attention to detail, adaptability, enthusiasm. Flexibility to manage multiple projects and client expectations. Respond to technical inquiries effectively. Write technical reports and correspondence per client and firm standards. Present information clearly to management and clients. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Proficiency in calculations involving proportions, percentages, areas, and volumes. Knowledge of algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistical analysis. Understanding of electrical theory and transmission/distribution system principles. Ability to solve practical engineering problems. Interpret instructions in various formats. Strong organizational and time management skills. Monitor and document labor and budget costs. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS PE license in Illinois or Missouri required. Seniority level
