Bus Driver/ MontiorReports to: Lead Bus Driver Hours: Part-time Certification: RequiredBackground of the OrganizationAmbition Preparatory Charter School is deeply committed to ensuring that every student in grades K-8 receives the high-quality education they deserve. Our mission is to provide students with the academic skills and self-discipline needed for college and life success through high-quality instruction, intensive academic supports, and hard work. We are a new college preparatory elementary and middle school serving the students of Jackson, MS. Responsibilities and DutiesSafe TransportationTransport students to and from school, field trips, sporting events, and other off-campus activities.Follow a planned route and schedule, adhering to traffic laws and regulations.Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus.Ensure the safety of all students while on the bus.Student ManagementAssist students with getting on and off the bus, including those with disabilities.Verify permissions for students riding home with friends.Maintain discipline and a safe environment on the bus.Vehicle MaintenancePerform inspections of the bus before and after each route.Report any mechanical issues or concerns to the appropriate authorities.Professional ConductObey all traffic laws and regulations.Attend safety meetings and training as required.Maintain a professional demeanor and interact positively with students and parentsThis job involves sitting for long periods as well as stooping, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing and climbing. Able to work a flexible schedule. Must be able to travel, enter, and exit a vehicle without assistance and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions. Each candidate must also be receptive to constructive feedback and can remodel positive behavior precisely and effectively while keeping the common goal of every student in mind.Qualifications Possess a current MS driver;'s license and Commercial Driver's License Class B with a school bus endorsement requiredYou must meet specific physical, hearing, and vision requirements as outlined by the Mississippi Department of Education.
