Assistant Chief, Dept of Anesthesiology | Anesthesiologist

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for an Anesthesiologist located in Santa Rosa, CA. We are the northernmost hospital in the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Service area, and the largest provider of healthcare in Sonoma County.

Location: Northern California Wine Country, ~1 hour north of San Francisco

Hospital: Midsize community hospital serving Sonoma County

Team: 13 anesthesiologists + ~25 CRNAs in a care team model

Work Mix: ~⅓ solo cases, ~⅔ supervision—great experience balance right out of training

Case Mix

• “Bread and Butter” Surgery: Orthopedics (joint replacement center of excellence), general surgery, urology, plastics, ENT, breast, podiatry, gynecology, light vascular surgery.
• Pediatrics: Healthy ASA 1 & 2 patients >1 year old (ear tubes, T&As, dental).
• Regional Anesthesia experience preferred.
• Minimal NORA.

Schedule & Call

• Call: No trauma. In-house OB coverage with a call CRNA + backup provider
• Weekday call hours: 3 PM – 7 AM
• Flexible scheduling: Shift swaps, per diem coverage available for last-minute needs
• Salary: Starts at ~$445k + minimum 3% annual cost of livings increases + bonuses (with frequent adjustments to match market rates)
• Vacation: 10-11 weeks off per year (flexible, with ability to increase/decrease)
• Retirement: Pension + 401K + 401K “match” (all fully covered)
