Senior Structural Engineer @ VHB | Temp / On-call VHB's structural engineering group plays a vital role in developing and enhancing connectivity through infrastructure projects such as complex bridge and interchange designs, rehabilitation and inspection, pedestrian walkways, and transit stations. This diverse range of services helps improve mobility for the traveling public. VHB has received recognition including seven awards from the American Council of Engineering and the 2024 New England Design Firm of the Year by Engineering News-Record.
We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing Structures group on a flexible, on-call basis. The role involves supporting planning, analysis, and design of a variety of structural projects across New England. The position can be performed remotely by a resident within MA/RI/NH, with travel to client sites when needed.
Responsibilities
Support, develop, organize, and implement structural planning, analysis, and design documentation.
Manage tasks effectively.
Review plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to ensure scope, schedule, cost, and quality standards are met.
Skills and Attributes
Extensive knowledge of structural engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
Excellent technical writing skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong technical, critical thinking, and project management skills.
Motivated leader and mentor.
Proficiency with structural engineering software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit, OpenRoads, OpenBridge, and Connect is a plus.
Qualifications
8-11 years of experience in structural bridge and building design; 11+ years preferred.
Bachelor's in Civil Engineering; Master’s preferred.
PE licensure required.
