Overview
We are searching for an experienced Restaurant Buyer for our Store Support Center located at 600 Citadel Drive, Commerce, CA, 90040.
SUMMARY
Restaurant Buyer to oversee food service, MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations), and replenishment purchasing. Responsible for sourcing and contracting foodservice prime materials, manage prime material costs. Major focus on optimizing recipe margin costs based on department goals, restaurant operations support, vendor and warehouse management, and cross-functional collaboration with store operations to drive efficiency and improve day-to-day restaurant operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned or required.
- Food Service & MRO Buying: Manage procurement for food service ingredients, supplies, and MRO items, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery.
- Replenishment Buying: Maintain optimal stock levels by analyzing sales trends, monitoring supplier performance, and implementing efficient inventory replenishment strategies.
- Program & Contract Negotiations: Develop and negotiate supplier contracts to secure favorable pricing, terms, and rebates while maintaining strong vendor relationships.
- Category Management: Oversee category retails and margins, continuously analyzing financial performance and implementing strategies to maximize profitability.
- Recipe Costing & Management: Build and maintain accurate recipe cost structures to ensure consistent food cost control and profitability.
- Excel & Data Analysis: Utilize Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data modeling) to analyze trends, optimize purchasing decisions, and generate reports for leadership review.
- Restaurant Operations Support: Collaborate with restaurant teams to align purchasing strategies with operational needs, ensuring seamless execution of menu programs.
- Market & Industry Research: Stay informed about industry trends, new products, and supplier innovations to enhance product offerings and cost efficiency.
- Operational Efficiency:
- Develop and implement standardized ordering processes and procedures to streamline daily restaurant orders.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency and identify areas for improvement.
- Track vendor performance and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
- Participate in weekly meetings with leadership teams and align operational goals and resolve key challenges.
ONSITE: This is an onsite position, candidate must be able to report to our Store Support Center located at 600 Citadel Drive, Commerce, CA 90040.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in food service, MRO, or replenishment purchasing buyer.
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record in supplier management and contract negotiations.
- In-depth knowledge of restaurant operations, food costs, and inventory management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of supply chain best practices and vendor compliance requirements.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Strong analytical skills to identify cost efficiencies and identify trends
COMPUTER/PC SKILLS
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
COMPENSATION: The salary range for this position is $80,000.00 to $110,000.00. The actual starting pay will be determined by a number of qualifications; including, experience and relevant skills.
