Role Overview:
The Knitwear Associate Designer / Designer will support the design and development of seasonal sweater and cut & sew collections, working closely with the Director of Knitwear and team. This role requires a strong foundation in knitwear design, technical knowledge, and the ability to contribute both creatively and organizationally throughout the design process. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, a self-starter, collaborative, and passionate about contemporary and luxury knitwear.
Key Responsibilities:
With the support of an Assistant Designer, the Knitwear Associate Designer / Designer will:
Build and maintain seasonal line sheets
Create and manage tech packs from development through production using Illustrator and PLM
Contribute to seasonal research on silhouettes, details, and stitch techniques
Design stitch layouts and coordinate the development of knitdowns and trials
Collaborate with Director to help sketch seasonal assortments in Procreate
Oversee organization and upkeep of the yarn library and stitch archive
Attend fittings and milestone meetings to take detailed notes and track design updates
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Proficiency in Procreate for digital sketching
Formal education in knitwear and/or relevant professional experience
Strong interest in and awareness of the contemporary and luxury fashion markets
Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and collaborate as part of a team
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and proactively contribute to team goals
Familiarity with PLM systems is a plus
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including responsiveness and professionalism in email and digital correspondence
