Executive Summary:
- Our client is looking to hire a Senior RF Engineer/In-Building Wireless Consultant with 11+ years of experience to assist the Office of Unified Communications (OUC) within the DC Government.
- The role involves providing technical expertise in designing, implementing, and testing wireless communication systems, with a focus on public safety systems like Land Mobile Radio (LMR), FirstNet, and P25. The candidate will support the design, implementation, and optimization of Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and in-building wireless systems, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
Day to Day Tasks:
- Support projects related to radio system infrastructure, subscriber radio deployment, DAS performance monitoring, and system testing and acceptance.
- Develop and review criteria and guidelines for In-Building Wireless (IBW) proposals and systems.
- Perform field surveys, troubleshoot IBW network interference and coverage issues, and support radio programming requests.
- Manage encryption and OTAR upgrades, develop training materials, and maintain radio equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Assess technical and operational practices for system upgrades, ensuring industry standards are met.
- Provide SME support for Public Safety Radio, DAS, and BDA systems.
- Research and analyze wireless technologies, produce reports, and make recommendations.
Technical Skills:
- Extensive experience with Land Mobile Radio (LMR), DAS, and public safety radio systems.
- Proficiency in RF principles, troubleshooting, system testing, and FCC regulations.
Project Management & Compliance:
- Experience managing system upgrades, requirements gathering, and compliance with IBW guidelines.
Analytical Skills:
- Ability to analyze technical data and assess system performance.
Communication Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication, training, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's in Engineering, IT, or related field; certifications like NICET are a plus.
Must Have Skills:
- 11+ years SME experience in enterprise projects.
- 5+ years in public safety radio and DAS systems.
- Experience with P25, 4G/5G systems, RF engineering tools, drive testing, interference analysis, and in-building wireless design and troubleshooting.
Nice To Have Skills:
- Experience in developing fleet maps, programming radios for public safety.
