SPCA Florida is seeking a veterinary technician to assist our shelter veterinarian in ensuring the shelter pets receive prompt and proper medical care and continued monitoring for individual health and welfare. The responsibilities of the veterinary technician team are the shelter animals only, with
no clients
or appointments. We have a dedicated, innovative, and compassionate team that strives to care for every animal that comes to the SPCA Florida Adoption Center.

Join SPCA Florida in making a difference as we are looking for a full-time Veterinary Technician. We are looking for candidates with the following skills:
Must Love Animals and Care about People. Preferred but not required: CVT Graduate from an AVMA-accredited program and/or equivalent experience as a veterinary assistant/technician. Having the ability to take radiographs and proper positioning, having the capability to complete clinical laboratory tests, assist in surgery, and perform dental procedures. Proficient in humane restraint techniques in different situations and for various procedures. Administer medications, blood draws, and I V Catheterization. Experience working as a veterinary technician in an established practice, preferably a shelter environment. Assists with the medical needs of the foster animals and the foster program. Anticipate surgeons' needs for assistance, instruments, and patient monitoring, as well as medical treatments. Monitor patients' recoveries. Protect patients from aspiration and hypothermia. Deflate cuffs and remove endotracheal tubes as soon as gag reflexes return. Knowledge of Avimark and ShelterLUV a plus. Excellent interpersonal skills; attention to detail. Ability to work in an ever-changing environment. Candidates must be eager to learn, show initiative, and understand vaccine protocols. Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment with minor supervision. As a benefit, the CVA online program is offered at no cost to the team members.
