LOCATION : Mark DeLay Elementary School (Grades PK - 2nd)
QUALIFICATIONS : Master of Social Work Degree from a graduate school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Valid certification as a social worker and licensure as required by the State of Illinois Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO:
Principal of Building Assigned
JOB GOAL : To help students resolve such personal, emotional, and social problems as interfere with their adjustment to school and their capacity to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered them.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs casework service with individual students to correct those personal, social, or emotional maladjustments related to their educational and social progress. Performs casework service with parents as an integral part of the task of helping students: to increase the parents' understanding, their constructive participation in resolving their child's problems, and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources available. Consults and collaborates with other school personnel in gathering and giving information on a case, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in the modification of the student's behavior. Supervises the referral of students to the special education agency (L.A.D.S.E.) as necessary. Participates with other staff members of the student personnel team in case conferences and regular staff meetings. Assists students directly toward adjustment to school. Maintains case records and files to insure confidentiality in accordance with state and federal law. Accepts such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned.
