The Gastrointestinal and Inflammation (GI2) Drug Discovery Unit at Takeda is building a new team of experienced, innovative, and collaborative researchers to deliver an industry-leading portfolio of drugs for gastrointestinal, autoimmune, and inflammatory diseases. We seek skilled bench scientists to join our cross-functional discovery teams. Generate and execute preclinical development strategies to support candidate selection and mechanistic characterization, facilitating efficient clinical validation of impactful medicines for inflammatory and autoimmune disorders. Begin at the conception of new projects. Apply deep scientific expertise in immunology and/or cell biology to mature innovative novel concepts within our team, collaborating with other Takeda scientists and external partners. Drive an inclusive, open, and effective culture in a fast-growing drug discovery group. Accountabilities
Design, perform, and interpret in vitro and ex vivo studies to evaluate drug candidate mechanisms of action. Generate data packages supporting candidate selection and asset characterization, leveraging subject matter expertise, literature, and industry standards. Champion scientific integrity and rigor in data analysis, protocol/SOP preparation, and technical reports. Collaborate within a matrixed structure, clearly communicate results, challenges, and impacts, and integrate data from other disciplines. Education & Competencies
PhD with 2+ years industry experience, MS with 8+ years, or BS with 10+ years. Preferred 6+ years of industry experience. Proven track record in inflammation research; experience in IBD research is a plus. Strong experimental design, troubleshooting, and data analysis skills. Expertise in molecular biology/immunology, including gene editing, cell culture, cytokine analysis, and flow cytometry. Experience developing in vitro assays for small molecules and biologics. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment. Keeps up with latest scientific advancements and literature. This position is onsite in Cambridge, MA.
