Job Description AECOM is actively seeking an experienced
Senior Biologist/Project Manager
to join our growing California Natural Resources Group. This hybrid role can be based in any of our southern or central California offices, including San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, Bakersfield, San Jose, or Sacramento.
This position supports natural resource projects in California, including management of and technical work on permitting and compliance projects. Responsibilities include managing impact assessments, mitigation planning, regulatory compliance and permitting efforts (CEQA/NEPA, 404/401, CESA, ESA), and preparing environmental documents and management plans. The candidate will coordinate with resource agency staff, lead complex environmental, waters, and species-related permitting projects, and participate in public review processes.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Managing a team to prepare natural resources documents such as Biological Technical Reports, Biological Assessments, 2081 Permit Applications, Habitat Conservation Plans, Eagle Conservation Plans, and Delineation Reports.
Managing projects involving environmental analysis (biological, cultural, air quality, traffic, etc.).
Handling large-scale field efforts and schedules.
Ensuring compliance with permit conditions.
Performing project management duties: forecasting, tracking, invoicing, progress reports, scheduling.
Reviewing contracts and developing work breakdown structures.
Monitoring project costs and taking corrective actions as needed.
Acting as primary contact for clients and resource agencies.
Supporting career development of junior staff.
Participating in marketing and business development activities.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, or project management with 6 years of relevant experience, or equivalent. A valid U.S. Driver's license is required. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree, 8+ years of experience, wildlife survey permits, and experience with utility projects in California.
Additional information: U.S. Citizenship required. Compensation range: $90,000 - $130,000.
