Superior Tank Co., Inc. is seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our growing Accounting team in Rancho Cucamonga. This individual will play a vital role in supporting the accounting department, focusing on general ledger reconciliations, variance analysis, cost accounting, and providing timely financial reports. The ideal candidate will have a passion for numbers, a keen eye for detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles, particularly in a manufacturing or construction environment.
Role and Responsibilities
- Perform general-ledger account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closes, including journal entries, balance-sheet reconciliations, and accruals.
- Conduct variance analysis and prepare reports on operational results, providing insight into changes and trends.
- Assist with the preparation of working capital cash flow reports and other financial statements as needed.
- Maintain and update records and reports for profit and loss, taxes, liabilities, and assets.
- Participate in the review of financial policies and procedures, recommending improvements where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with national and local financial regulations by staying updated on recent legislative changes.
- Provide ad-hoc financial reports when requested by senior management.
- Assist with cost accounting and job costing processes to ensure project financials align with the companys objectives.
- Work with internal and external personnel to identify and correct errors and ensure data accuracy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Required: At least two years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Preferred: CPA or CMA certification.
Skills:
- Proficient in Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
- Experience with Sage, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, cost accounting, and GAAP.
- Ability to prepare variance analysis and report findings to senior leadership.
- Spanish-speaking skills are a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial data with discretion.
This is a full-time overtime exempt position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
