Responsibilities Manage and deliver quality transit/rail services on-time, within budget, and to client satisfaction. Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, schedules, environmental studies, and designs. Lead a team providing rail track engineering and design services. Prepare cost estimates, scope of work, proposals, and contracts. Coordinate and ensure design completeness and accuracy. Use design software for engineering and design documents. Submit documents for review and obtain necessary permits. Participate in Design/Build efforts, consulting on constructability and scheduling. Attend client meetings onsite and offsite. Serve as technical liaison and coordinate within discipline areas. Evaluate design changes and recommend solutions. Participate in project scoping, fee estimating, proposals, and negotiations. Review projects post-award to define scope, procedures, schedules, and budgets. Coordinate project execution to meet scope, budget, and schedule from start to closeout. Perform design calculations and analyses, and prepare specifications. Organize task scheduling and assignments. Apply broad engineering solutions using senior-level expertise. Lead discipline-specific planning, work distribution, and adherence to schedules and budgets. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. 16+ years of track design experience. Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland; DC and Virginia PE’s a plus. Knowledge of rail track design and transit/passenger/freight rail projects. Familiarity with agencies like MDOT MTA, MDOT SHA, MDTA, and Baltimore DOT is a plus. Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and AREMA guidelines. Experience with Microstation V8i, Inroads, and Open Rail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel. Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
