They have ambitious plans to double in size yet again over the next 12-18 months so this is a perfect time to join them on a massive greenfield opportunity and shape everything from the ground up. They don’t want to solve problems the way historical spacecraft companies have solved problems. They are Looking for a diversity of thought, diversity of experience within SpaceTech and DeepTech. What you'll do.. Lead a small team responsible for GNC design and analysis for a wide variety of orbits to include LEO, MEO and GEO Work closely and across software and algorithm teams to integrate GNC and RPO (rendezvous and proximity operations) capabilities into flight software Lead trade studies and ultimately recommend design decisions regarding GNC components such as IMUs, star trackers, sun sensors, and propulsion components Define and implement GNC system fault detection, isolation, recovery Interact and collaborate with engineers from various disciplines Own all aspects of GNC system development, from algorithms to overall vehicle design Required experience: Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or equivalent discipline 7+ years experience developing, producing and managing GNC systems for aerospace applications Extensive understanding of aerospace GNC architectures Extensive understanding of the sensors and actuators required for aerospace applications Experience with control structure interaction, filtering, state estimation, fault management, and software development Strong understanding of physics and attitude dynamics Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team Experience with Matlab and Python Any experience developing and / or producing GNC systems for space applications would be preferred. In addition to cradle-to-grave development of three-axis stabilized spacecraft incorporating momentum exchange, magnetic, and propulsive control. Experience with low thrust trajectory optimization for orbital maneuvering, line of sight performance analysis such as jitter, smear, and pointing accuracy would be a bonus. This role can be based out of either LA, California or Denver, Colorado.
