Contract Job Description: Installation, configuration, and upgrades of AS400 systems, including software upgrades and patches using tools like IBM i Access Client Solutions (ACS) and IBM Navigator for i. Storage management, including allocating storage space, managing libraries and objects, and planning for future storage needs using tools like IBM i Disk Management and BRMS Backup, Recovery, and Media Services. User management, including creating and managing user accounts, assigning permissions, and controlling access using IBM Security Access Manager and IBM i User Profiles. Security, implementing and maintaining measures to protect AS400 systems from unauthorized access and breaches using IBM i Security Tools and IBM Guardium. Monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and taking corrective actions using tools like IBM Performance Tools for i and IBM i Performance Navigator. Tuning system parameters, SQL queries, and indexes to optimize performance using IBM i SQL Performance Analyzer and IBM i Performance Data Investigator. Performing regular backups to ensure data protection and disaster recovery using tools like BRMS and IBM i SaveRestore. Restoring systems from backups and resolving data corruption issues using BRMS and IBM i Recovery Tools. Working with data architects to design and implement efficient database schemas using tools like IBM Data Studio and IBM InfoSphere Data Architect. Ensuring data accuracy and consistency through data validation and integrity checks using IBM InfoSphere QualityStage. Collaborating with developers to design and implement new system features and applications using tools like IBM Rational Developer for i and IBM i Access Client Solutions. Providing training and support to users on accessing and using AS400 systems. Identifying and resolving system issues, errors, and performance problems using tools like IBM i Service Tools and IBM i System Logs. Maintaining documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps using tools like Confluence and SharePoint. Monitoring and managing the health and performance of AS400 systems. Performing routine maintenance tasks, including updates, patches, and backups. Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to AS400 systems. Collaborating with other IT teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and operation of AS400 systems. Providing support and training to end-users and IT staff. Maintaining and updating system documentation and procedures. Staying up-to-date with the latest AS400 technologies and best practices.
