Extended School Year: Special Education Case Manager LAMB offers a unique model of bilingual Montessori public education to diverse, urban families in the Nation’s Capital. LAMB serves children in PK3 through 5th grade and is a community that embraces our active parent community and promotes peace and equality for all.
This special education teacher will serve students in a bilingual Montessori program.
Basic Qualifications
Meet state educational requirements, preferably a valid state-issued teaching license for Cross-Categorical Special Education in elementary education or meet eligibility, including undergraduate studies in Special Education and passing scores on Praxis I & II
Native speaker of the modeling language (English or Spanish) and commitment to learn a second language (English or Spanish) (preferred)
Ability to work with students of various abilities, including those with various identified exceptionalities
Ability to work in a multicultural, bilingual environment
Meet all employment requirements, including a thorough background check
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide daily academic support to students receiving specialized instruction
Case management for a caseload of 5-10 students including providing services, collecting progress monitoring data, and writing progress reports
Design and implement engaging instruction based on IEP goals and objectives
Maintain records of children’s progress utilizing a web-based program and other assessment tools to track mastery
Collaborate with the ESY Coordinator and Dedicated Aide to plan instruction and special activities
Participate in meetings, trainings, and/or planning cooperatives to fully serve children’s needs
Schedule Summer Employment (July 7th-August 1st; 8:00-12:30)
Compensation Approximately $50 per hour, commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical insurance (health, dental, & vision), retirement plan, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, and vacation/sick leave.
