- Demonstrate knowledge of grade level content curricula to engage students in all content areas as indicated on students’ IEPs.
- Develop innovative instructional methodologies to teach students in all content areas using FLACS network developed curriculum maps.
- Co-plan, prepare and facilitate daily standards based lessons that utilize a variety of instructional strategies which differentiate teaching based on the diverse and individual needs of students.
- Develop IEP goals and track progress.
- Attend all IEP meetings and complete session notes on SESIS.
- Establish a culture of learning to engage students in rigorous standards based curricula to ensure students master the state standards and are prepared to graduate from high school.
- Focus on integration of literacy skills across content areas, which includes explicit vocabulary development, reading, writing, speaking and listening standards.
- Integrate technology into the curricula and classroom.
- Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards.
- Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices to create a classroom culture of data driven decision making to close the achievement gap for all students including general education, students with disabilities and ELLs.
- Create a classroom environment of respect and rapport to ensure a safe, caring and orderly school environment which nurtures the unique needs of each student.
- Participate in collaborative curriculum and professional development, professional learning communities, grade-level activities and school wide functions.
- Seek to actively know students’ strengths and challenge areas
- Communicates effectively with parents
- Bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree is preferred
- Prior satisfactory teaching experience preferred
- New York State Certification in Students with Disabilities (grades 7-12)
- NYS Dept of Education fingerprint clearance and criminal background checks.
