River Academy of Excellence is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher/Administrator to join our team. The position is for the 2025 school year, with some work to start in the Summer of 2025. The school is a small, private school, with a current enrollment of 8 students. We are located in the Fox Chapel area of Pittsburgh, PA. We are seeking candidates with experience working with students with complex educational needs. Children in grades kindergarten to 8th grade will be accepted into the school. Our mission is to provide specialized education held to the highest standards, ensuring that each student achieves their full potential in a nurturing and supportive environment. At River Academy of Excellence, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. River Academy is heavily staffed with full-time Special Education teachers, BCBA, Behavior Therapists and Paraprofessionals to support each student’s needs.

Responsibilities:
- Individual will be responsible for administrative work including supporting the Special Education Director, enrollment of new students, staff scheduling, student scheduling, District and parent communication, community outreach, and marketing.
- Responsible for subbing in classrooms, as necessary.
- Responsible for coaching para-professionals and other teachers, as needed, to maintain highly experienced staff.
- Collaborate with para-professionals, therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive educational and therapeutic support to students.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, supported, and engaged in their learning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education from the state of Pennsylvania.
- Experience working with students with complex educational needs, preferably in a special education setting.
- Previous experience working in a classroom setting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and outside agencies.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth.
