The Data Engineer will help develop and support the overall enterprise analytics initiative with a primary focus on improving data integration of current utility systems, creating data lakes, and ingesting additional data streams such as smart grid technologies, distributed energy resources (DERs), and customer channel information. The role requires understanding data storage, transformation, and distribution mechanisms, collaborating with data scientists and business units to meet analytical needs, and creating secure, reliable data accessibility layers aligned with business objectives. Job Duties/Responsibilities
Develop and deploy best practices in data collection, governance, storage, and manipulation techniques to maximize data value. Collaborate with data analysts to produce data products supporting business intelligence initiatives. Act as an expert on multiple data domains within the Enterprise Data & Analytics group. Promote Entergy’s analytics efforts, fostering collaboration and enhancing the company's analytics reputation. Work with data scientists to acquire, manipulate, and cleanse data for advanced analytics. For Sr level: Lead small to medium data warehousing and analytics projects, including requirements gathering, data modeling, system design, and implementation. Minimum Requirements
Education:
B.S. in a data-centric field such as Economics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering; M.S. preferred in related analytical fields. Experience:
Data Engineer II: 2-6 years in data validation, modeling, and processing; experience with big data environments and ETL tools preferred. Data Engineer Sr: 6-8 years in data management, with expertise in ETL, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), big data technologies, data warehousing, governance, and proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, Airflow. Skills and Abilities
Strong SQL and ETL tool skills. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to explain complex topics simply. Additional Information:
