Description
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring optimal operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on industrial machinery, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. The Maintenance Technician coaches other techs to achieve the same.
Responsibilities
- Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Ensure the removal of defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
- Work with other Technicians to determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges and trains other technicians to do the same.
- Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
- Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Ensure the Technical Team maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
Qualifications
- Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 5 years prior experience in mechanical and/or electrical position.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and CAD.
- Experience with 480V/3 phase industrial equipment and controls.
- Working knowledge of PLC and computerized controlled automated systems, equipment and functions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Strong coaching and training skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to ask the right questions.
- Strong verbal and written communication competencies.
