Job Description
The Opportunity
The Data Analyst will support regional data management, analytics, and visualization. The Data Analyst will manage, analyze, and report on school-level and regional data from various sources (e.g., academic, operations, talent, etc.) and support implementation of the region’s strategic plan around a data-driven culture and related instructional practices. The Data Analyst will also support data systems and key educational technology platforms, including PowerSchool, BigQuery, Schoolytics, and Tableau, ensuring that all systems meet and maintain a high standard of quality. The Data Analyst will report to the Director of Data & Assessment.
The Data Analyst’s core responsibilities include:
Data Management, Analysis, & Visualization:
Clean and analyze data using integral regional tools, including BigQuery, Excel, Google Sheets, Python, Schoolytics, and Tableau
Design, implement, and monitor the use of real-time data reports and dashboards (e.g., Tableau & Schoolytics reports) to support strategic decisions at the regional and school level
Translate data into relevant insights and support stakeholders on interpreting findings
Tailor the complexity of analysis appropriately to audiences with various data literacy skills (e.g., regional office, principals, teachers, Board members, etc.)
Anticipate and empathize with stakeholder reactions
Collaborate with regional and school leaders and teams to ensure alignment and optimal use of data systems and reports
Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders in order to encourage questions and surface opportunities to provide support
Data Systems Management:
Support PowerSchool, PowerTeacher Pro, and all data contained in these systems for all KIPP Philadelphia schools and the regional office
Train PowerSchool users and build organizational capacity in PowerSchool both within all KIPP Philadelphia schools and the regional office
Work closely with the Director of Data & Assessment to manage and maintain key student data and various educational technology systems that integrate with our student information system (e.g., Clever, DeansList, Schoolytics, etc.)
Collaborate with our contracted Tech Support team and vendors to ensure working connections between systems and to set-up/maintain automatic and ad-hoc account provisioning
Provide ongoing technical support for data systems (set up and maintain user accounts, troubleshoot system issues, etc.)
Audit information, correct errors, and build skill in users necessary to prevent future errors
Training & Support:
Provide excellent service to staff throughout KIPP Philadelphia who request support
Train school leaders, teachers, operations staff, and other school staff to efficiently use data systems
Develop documentation and other resources to support ongoing training and professional development
Qualifications:
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is required
Minimum of 2 years relevant experience, preferably in the education or non-profit fields, or Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science or related field
Experience with data visualization and dashboard creation tools (e.g., Tableau & Schoolytics)
Experience programming in data analysis languages and/or software (e.g., SQL, R, Python)
Familiarity with current data systems, including BigQuery & PowerSchool
Experience managing vendor relationships
Experience delivering professional development
Enthusiasm for data, analytics and data-driven instruction
Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
Strong project management skills
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills and ability to build meaningful relationships quickly
Team-player capable of working both collaboratively and independently
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission of KIPP Philadelphia
Additional Information
Compensation
- Salary is commensurate with experience. Ranging from $75,000 - $85,000
