Responsibilities
The Surgical Technologist facilitates operative or other invasive procedures by preparing and providing sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and responds to the needs of the surgical team. Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION High School diploma or GED required; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program is preferred. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE Previous experience is preferred. REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Must be certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or NCCT, or meet the grandfather clause. The grandfather clause allows individuals employed before September 1, 2009, to continue practicing without certification. Certified in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Good communication skills, hand-eye coordination, and infection control techniques. Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and equipment. Ability to use reference manuals and adapt to the needs of diverse patient populations. About OakBend
