The need for skilled cybersecurity professionals has never been greater. At Cal OES, we are seeking driven individuals to join our team and help safeguard the state's critical infrastructure.
The California Cybersecurity Integration Center’s (Cal-CSIC) primary mission is to reduce the likelihood and severity of cyber incidents that could damage California's economy, its critical infrastructure, or public and private sector computer networks in the state. The Cal-CSIC is the central organizing hub of state government's cybersecurity activities and coordinates information sharing with local, state, and federal agencies, tribal governments, utilities and other service providers, academic institutions, and nongovernmental organizations. Within the Cal-CSIC, the Mission Support Branch (MSB) provides the following functions: Business Operations; Information Technology (IT) Solution Engineering, IT System Administration; Cyber Policy and Strategic Planning; Vendor Management; Partner Integration; Training Program Development; and Metrics Collection and Reporting.
In this role as Information Technology Specialist III (ITS III), Cybersecurity Systems Developer, you will lead and oversee enterprise IT and cybersecurity initiatives across California's public sector, focusing on the Business Technology Management, System Engineering, and Information Security Engineering domains.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex cybersecurity systems and solutions.
- Overseeing large-scale, multi-agency program-specific cybersecurity projects.
- Contributing to the state's cybersecurity roadmap and resilience efforts.
- Maintaining expert-level knowledge of IT and security industry best practices.
- Remaining current with the evolving cyber threat landscape.
- Guiding the implementation of advanced security technologies and architectures specific to the Cal-CSIC’s mission.
- Fostering a positive work environment through collaboration and innovation.
- Mentoring and developing cybersecurity professionals within the organization.
- Analyzing and mitigating cyber risks across state and private agencies.
- Ensuring compliance with federal and state cybersecurity regulations.
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- Significant experience in IT, cybersecurity, and system development roles.
- Advanced knowledge of IT systems, cybersecurity, and information security engineering.
- Strong understanding of Business Technology Management and System Engineering principles.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead and collaborate across multiple agencies and stakeholders.
