Client Our client is a 50-year-old, high-growth, national, cutting-edge, custom manufacturer of technology solutions for Space, Aerospace, Government, Life Sciences, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, and Semiconductor industries. Summary The Director of People and Culture (PC) is a key member of the leadership team responsible for shaping and executing strategy and employee development to support business goals in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role oversees all aspects of the People and Culture function, including workforce planning, employee relations, labor compliance, performance management, talent development, and culture initiatives. The Director will partner closely with operations and production leadership to ensure PC programs are aligned with the needs of a diverse workforce while cultivating a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and employee engagement. This position reports directly to the CEO and has 1 direct report: HR Generalist. Location On-Site required. Candidate needs to be based in a commutable distance to Rancho Cordovo, CA. Compensation Offers a competitive base salary + bonus + full benefits package. Primary Responsibilities Develop and implement people strategies that align with operational and business objectives in a manufacturing setting. Partner with department leaders to address workforce needs, optimize staffing, and drive employee engagement. Oversee all PC compliance and risk management processes, including OSHA, FLSA, EEOC, FMLA, and other federal/state labor regulations. Lead and mentor the People and Culture team to deliver effective services across recruitment, employee relations, performance, and workforce development. Drive initiatives to attract, retain, and develop talent across both hourly and salaried populations, with a focus on manufacturing excellence. Support a culture of safety, collaboration, and accountability through employee communications, leadership development, and policy guidance. Oversee employee investigations, ensure consistent application of policies, and mitigate legal risk. Manage compensation, benefits, and wellness programs tailored to the needs of a production workforce. Leverage systems and data to inform strategic decisions and monitor key metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, and engagement. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing counsel on organizational design, change management, and talent strategy. Education, Skills, and Experience 10+ years of progressive HR experience with at least 5 years in a trusted advisor role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong working knowledge of CA employment law and workforce compliance. Demonstrated ability to partner with cross-functional teams, particularly in production, operations, and engineering. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with experience using metrics. Proficiency in HRIS/HCM systems (preferably with Paylocity) and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to maintain discretion and handle confidential information appropriately. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field preferred. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR preferred. Seniority level
