Fuel Tank / FDM Design Release Engineer
Job Description:
The Design Release Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, advance product & quality planning (APQP), and production release of a system/component within Fuel/Urea tanks and fuel/urea delivery modules.
Other responsibilities will include but not limited to: Quality improvements, value optimization, weight reduction, and other efficiency improvement initiatives including communicating technical product status to management.
The Design Release Engineer will interact with suppliers and will work closely with internal and external groups such as vehicle program team, testing & prototype labs, CAE engineers, supplier operations and manufacturing plants.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering is required.
Proficiency in English (write, listen, and speak) is a requirement.
2 -4 years of design/development automotive engineering experience in Fuel Systems and/or UREA.
Will consider an with Fuel Systems (UREA also considered) as part of that experience.
Self-starter with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills and demonstrated problem solving ability.
Will be required to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.
Will be required to drive a company car. A valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record.
Products:
Fuel tanks, Urea (SCR) Tanks, Fuel delivery modules, Urea Delivery Modules, Gas and Diesel Filters.
Requirements:
Automotive product engineering experience.
Injection molded/Blow molded Fuel/Urea tank design.
Knowledge of fuel tank virtual simulations is highly recommended.
PHEV experience is recommended
Fuel Delivery Module design is recommended.
Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Belt certification.
General understanding of fasteners/torque.
General understanding of GD&T.
General understanding of NX, Teamcenter, PLM.
Additional Must Haves:
1-2 years of design/development experience in Fuel Tanks, Fuel Delivery Modules, and/or Urea Tanks/Pumps
Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
Experience using 2D and 3D modeling CAD tools, e.g., NX, Teamcenter, and/or PLM.
General understanding of Injection molded/Blow molded Fuel/Urea tank design.
Onsite - 100%
Travel Specifics: Local assembly plants (Detroit Area), Chelsea Proving Ground, Arizona Proving Ground, North America locations, and North America Fuel System Supplier's locations.
