Base pay range
$150,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr
Work Hours/Location: Hybrid - M, T, TH in office and W & F remote
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

POSITION SUMMARY
On behalf of our client, a non-profit delivering hunger-relief charity and food bank services in San Diego County, we are seeking a Chief Financial Officer. The CFO is responsible for the overall financial strategy and direction of the organization, ensuring financial health, sustainability, and compliance.
The CFO will oversee accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and investment strategies, with a strong emphasis on nonprofit accounting. This role requires experience in NetSuite implementation and use to enhance financial operations.

Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures to support the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability.
- Provide financial insights and strategic recommendations to the CEO, executive team, and board of directors.
- Lead the development and execution of financial plans and long-term financial sustainability initiatives.
Financial Management and Reporting
- Oversee and ensure accurate preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and financial regulations.
- Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations to optimize resource allocation.
- Maintain relationships with financial institutions in conjunction with the CEO and administer banking arrangements.
- Involved in the approval of agreements concerning financial obligations, such as contracts for products or services and other actions requiring a commitment of financial resources.
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Cash Flow Management
- Lead the development of annual budgets and long-term financial projections in collaboration with department heads.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure financial stability and liquidity.
- Implement financial modeling to support strategic decision-making.
Compliance, Risk Management, and Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial laws and nonprofit regulations.
- Oversee and coordinate audits, tax filings, and grant reporting requirements.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and maintain financial integrity.
- Provide insurance coverage as required.
Technology and Systems Management
- Lead the implementation and optimization of NetSuite Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool, ensuring streamlined financial operations and reporting.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in financial systems.
Leadership and Team Management
- Oversee and manage the Finance Department, including direct supervision of the accounting staff.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the finance team.
- Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to overall organizational strategy.
INTERACTION
This position interacts closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, Executive Team, Managers, staff, and external stakeholders, including auditors, vendors, donors, and financial institutions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA required; MBA, or related certification preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior financial management role.
- Nonprofit accounting experience required.
- Strong experience in NetSuite ERP (use and implementation) required.
- Experience with financial planning, grant management, and compliance within a nonprofit environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Knowledge of fund accounting, grant reporting, and nonprofit financial management best practices.
- Proven ability to implement and optimize NetSuite ERP for financial operations.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, financial modeling tools, and ERP systems.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
