Open Rank of Surgery, Division of Urology The University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine (SOM) Department of Surgery is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible urologic surgeon with expertise in General Urology to join the Division of Urology. This position is open rank and flexible track; salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The UNM Division of Urology currently includes fellowship-trained urologists specializing in oncology, pediatrics, GU soft tissue reconstruction, robotics, reconstructive urology, and renal transplantation. Surgeons provide comprehensive urologic care for benign and malignant conditions and work closely with the residency program. The division offers robust infrastructure, resources, and leadership opportunities. UNM serves a large, medically complex population and is a regional referral center. Outpatient surgical services are provided through UNM Hospital, Sandoval Regional Medical Center, and the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only NCI-designated Cancer Center within 500 miles. The UNM Health Science Center is the largest academic health complex in New Mexico and the only Level 1 trauma center in the state. It is also the only site for urology residency training in the state. Located in Albuquerque, NM, the HSC combines education, research, patient care, and community outreach to provide high-quality healthcare. Albuquerque is known as the Land of Enchantment, offering outdoor activities year-round, including hiking, biking, skiing, and running. The state is diverse, with rich cultural heritage, excellent cuisine, scenic sunsets, lakes, rivers, deserts, and mountains. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Medical Doctor or equivalent Board-certified or board-eligible in Urology by the American Board of Urology Eligible for medical licensure in New Mexico Eligible for State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification Eligible for federal DEA registration Eligible to work in the U.S. Preferred Qualifications: Completion of an ACGME Urology Residency Interest and proficiency in managing complex urologic diseases, including newer treatments Interest and proficiency in minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic surgery A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, and experience working with diverse communities Application Instructions Apply through the official UNMJobs site.
