UPS Field Service Technician – Cheyenne, WY
This job opportunity is with a market leader of Critical Power Solutions and Services in the nation. The company offers data center power solutions tailored to the requirements of their clients' mission-critical facilities, including Third Party Purchases, Installs, Corrective and Preventive Maintenance of Mission Critical Power Equipment such as Switchgear, Batteries, UPS, and Generator Maintenance & Repair Services.
A fully competent UPS Field Technician applies an intensive and diversified knowledge of complete UPS start-up, testing, and operations. Responsibilities include commissioning, maintaining, and providing emergency support on power electronics at customers' sites within their respective regional coverage area.
Responsibilities:
- Perform commissioning focused design reviews, prepare commissioning test procedures and reports, and coordinate and oversee on-site testing.
- When not in the field, engage in preventive maintenance, emergency response, equipment start-up, or field modification; occasionally train at the company's headquarters testing equipment or rebuilding older systems.
- Discuss technical support issues related to maintenance or operation of equipment.
- Participate in the development of Methods of Procedures (MOPs).
- Consult with supervisor concerning unusual problems and developments.
- Candidate will be home-based.
Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years of experience in this field with the ability to troubleshoot down to component level on equipment such as UPS, batteries, and PDUs.
- Utilize hand tools and test equipment to perform work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills & customer relation skills.
- Ability to provide a high level of quality customer service.
- Complete Field Service Reports in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of equipment manufacturer's specifications.
- Ability to work independently and resourcefully with good initiative.
- Ability to perform repeated bending & lifting of up to 100lbs during certain procedures.
- Provide necessary pro-active recommendations to clients.
- Willingness to work nights & weekends when necessary and be on call when needed.
- Knowledge of general computer hardware & software applications.
- Previous 3rd Party UPS experience is a plus.
- UPS OEM factory training or experience with: Emerson / Liebert / Vertiv; APC / MGE / Schneider; or Eaton / Powerware / PDI is a MUST.
- Technical degree (DeVry, Lincoln Tech) is a plus.
- Previous military experience in Electrical / Mechanical fields is a huge plus.
- Clean driving record.
- Travel typically is regional but can be national for emergencies.
