The Long School of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (dba UT Health San Antonio) seeks an individual with an outstanding record of leadership in clinical, operational, scientific, and educational domains, and faculty/trainee recruitment and mentoring as its Director of the Malú & Carlos Alvarez Center for Transplantation, Hepatobiliary Surgery & Innovation. The Center is nationally recognized for its innovation, clinical outcomes, and interdisciplinary research. The adult abdominal organ transplant programs have sustained Centers of Excellence designations for over a decade, with vibrant living donor kidney and liver programs that also support its robust pediatric transplant programs. Additionally, the transplant center oversees hepatic and pancreatic surgery and lung transplantation. This position reports to the Senior Executive Vice President of Health Affairs & Health System and works closely with the Dean of the Long School of Medicine. The Director plays a key leadership role in the partnerships with University Health in managing the University Health Transplant Institute to maintain its long-standing history of excellence in clinical care, research, and education in a collegial culture.
Minimum Requirements:
- Candidates must have an MD, board certification or equivalent.
- Active liver transplant experience.
- Academic credentials for Professor with tenure.
Salary and resources are commensurate with experience and vision.
