Area Cooperative Educational Services is seeking a Per Diem Custodian to work in various locations throughout the agency.

Applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills, some computer knowledge, and be dependable and able to work well with adults and school children, including students with special needs. Experience in maintenance and basic repairs is preferred. Some computer skills are necessary. Must be able to work closely with supervisors to ensure a high level of building and grounds maintenance.

Normal hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., subject to change by management. Must be available to respond to situations and emergency notifications after hours and weekends.

Responsibilities (Not inclusive)

• Work with the program director and secretaries to identify and resolve issues that need immediate assistance.
• Active participation in school safety and security procedures.
• Clean, disinfect, and keep areas free of debris and remove trash (e.g., bathrooms, cafeteria, kitchen, health room, shower room, and grounds).
• Sweep and/or shovel entrances and walkways as needed.
• Check and replace lights as needed.
• Order supplies.
• Check heating and cooling systems (tend to furnace, AC, and boilers).
• Maintain power equipment and tools.
• Clean custodial storage closet.
• Check all exterior and interior doors.
• Check and maintain refrigerators and freezers.
• Maintain grounds.
• Wash down walls and spot paint as needed.

Requirements/Skills in:

• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Well-organized, able to work with deadlines.
