Position Summary The Head of Upper School provides academic, spiritual, and cultural leadership to faculty, students, and parents in the Upper School
.
The Head ensures that academic and co-curricular programs align with Veritas' mission to offer a robust classical and Christian education. He or she nurtures a warm and orderly culture where delight and diligence cohabit with the Gospel message. The Head of the Upper School reports to the Associate Head of
School
.
Those reporting directly to the Upper School Head include the Director of Upper School Student Life,
College & Vocation Advisement Coordinator, and Upper School Faculty.
Essential Functions Embody and articulate the vision and mission of Veritas Provide vision, direction, and inspiration to faculty, students, and parents Promote scholarship, spiritual growth, and Christian community in the
Upper
School Supervise curriculum, instruction, and assessment in cooperation with the Academic Dean Hire, develop, and evaluate
Upper
School faculty and staff Provide instructional leadership and coaching for faculty Oversee and direct student discipline Build trust with parents through missional clarity, relational warmth, and situational wisdom Serve as a member of the school's senior leadership team
Other Duties Meet regularly with the faculty Maintain a regular schedule of teacher supervision, observations, and evaluation Manage the
Upper
School budget in coordination with Associate Head of School and business office Work with the Academic Dean to keep academic documents current, evaluate and select curricular materials, and review academic practices Work with the Athletic Director to coordinate culture and
logistics
between the school day and athletics Approve field trips and special activities
