Specific Responsibilities and Duties
Lead the Development team in planning and implementing strategies to secure gifts from individuals and organizations through major, planned, and annual giving.
Establish measurable goals to increase fundraising results that are aspirational yet achievable.
Develop and execute an annual Operations Plan for Development and Alumni Relations.
Maintain an effective portfolio management system.
Solicit major and planned gifts.
Disseminate donor reports and endowment reports timely and effectively.
Implement a planned giving program, including marketing, prospecting, and personal solicitation of prospects.
Guide stewardship programs to recognize donors in meaningful ways.
Lead research and prospect management efforts, setting and evaluating goals regularly.
Mentor, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
Build positive relationships within the university community to position the Development office as a primary resource for fundraising.
Manage budgets and ensure development programs operate within fiscal constraints.
Stay informed of best practices and emerging trends in development.
Administer the budgets for Development and Alumni Relations.
Develop and update policies related to fundraising and gift stewardship.
Oversee the operations of Development and Alumni Relations to ensure effective collaboration and engagement of constituents.
Ensure alignment and collaboration across departments to maximize results.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities This role supervises the offices of Advancement Services, Alumni Relations, Major/Planned Gifts, Grant Writing, and Annual Gifts.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience Master’s degree with at least 7 years of related experience. Strong computer, budget, and accounting skills. Commitment to the mission of Dillard University, with qualities of honesty, trustworthiness, and dependability.
