The VPSA is the Chief Student Affairs Officer of the College and reports directly to the President and has the overall responsibility for providing visionary leadership, management, and supervision of college-wide student programs and services which includes career and counseling, assessment, campus life, athletics, wellness, first-year experience, student conduct, the CARE Team, KEYS, Act 101, and Veterans Affairs. The VPSA will also serve as the College's Chief Retention Officer and is responsible for providing visionary leadership on strategies that enhance student learning, success, retention, and completion.
Candidates interested in this outstanding position must be a dynamic leader who is strategic, student-centered, innovative, and collaborative. The successful candidate must be able to efficiently demonstrate the use of best practices associated with development, oversight, evaluation, and delivery of College-wide student programs and services to support the College's strategic initiatives of retention and completion. In addition, the VPSA will have a demonstrated ability to encourage, model, embrace, and incorporate diverse thoughts and perspectives of all students of various backgrounds; in an effort to promote and foster an all-inclusive environment while driving results.
Qualifications (including, but not limited to):
A minimum of 5-7 years of demonstrated experience as a leader in academic and/or student services leadership in a higher education environment.
A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education Leadership, Counseling, Education, or other related field of study is required. A Doctorate preferred.
Understanding of sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty, and staff.
Ability to use available data to evaluate program success and make evidence-based decisions towards quality improvement.
Proven experience in leading strategic initiatives that resulted in increased student success outcomes
Effective verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated success in communicating ideas and goals to influence and inform individuals and groups.
Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interactions with diverse groups of internal and external stakeholders; and
Ability to manage the execution and completion of complex strategic goals and objectives.
