Position Type: Student Support Services Date Posted: 10/27/2023 Location: HVED District Office Date Available: 2025-2026 Registered School Nurse Location: Southeast Minnesota POSITION: Hiawatha Valley Education District is seeking a Registered Nurse oversee student health plans in a variety of different school settings. EMPLOYMENT DATE: 2023 - 2024 School Year QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree in Nursing Registered nurse (RN) certification required Current nursing license with the Minnesota Board of Nursing is required Licensed School Nurse licensure through PELSB required RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to): Identify, prioritize, and provide first aid managment and emergency care to students with scope of authority and training in compliance with the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act and current policies/procedures Maintain student health records, ensuring confidentiality Administer screening programs at appropriate grade levels Assess the health status of students and develop individual health plans as appropriate Review and manage student immunization records and health forms Perform nursing care procedures and administer medications necessary for students to participate in their school day per the MN Nurse Practice Act and current policies/procedures Provide consultation, education, and support to students, families, and staff for student health needs Work with community resources to enhance health services to students when appropriate Engage in continuing education to support ongoing professional growth WORKING CONDITIONS: Office, lifting, sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, keyboarding, etc. Ability to lift 50 pounds. FLSA: non-exempt Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) provides special education services to 12 School Districts and three Charter Schools within five counties of southeast Minnesota: Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona. HVED also has a Setting IV Behavior Program, S tudents A chieving I ntegrated S ervices (SAIL) that provides programming for students in grades K-12 with challenging behaviors currently receiving special education services. Along with the SAIL programs, HVED provides programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a program named for S pecialized P rogramming, E ducation, C omprehensive T herapy and other R esources for their U nique M inds (SPECTRUM).
