Management JOB SUMMARY The Business Resilience department has overall accountability for ensuring that the organization is prepared to respond to disruptive events with effective crisis management and operational resilience plans to support business continuance. The vision of this department is to guide collaborative plans, partnerships, and strategies as vehicles navigating Marriott through disruptions with confidence. As a senior member of the professional staff, the Director contributes a high level of specialized knowledge, experience, and skill in the Business Continuity area to support the Company and Risk Management department and/or function objectives. This position works collaboratively with Business Resilience groups (Disaster Recovery, Global Information Security, Emergency Response/Life Safety, Vendor Management and Procurement, and Crisis Management) to assist process owners in developing BC plans and strategies which drive holistic and repeatable responses for broader business objectives and disruption response. Expected Contributions: Assist in the development and maintenance of Marriott’s business resilience program. Act as the Resilience Partner for an identified number of Marriott Critical Business Service (CBS) departments. Ensure the respective CBS will have their end-to-end services appropriately mapped and updated. Partner with the CBS leader and the Global Technology liaison to identify critical applications dependencies which contribute towards the CBS. Assist with the identification of maximum allowable downtimes and potential gaps or risks to the CBS. Assist the CBS leader with documenting resilience plans as necessary. Supervise the completion of the annual, integrated, above-property/corporate business impact analysis for the CBS areas. Evaluate business process descriptions and operational resilience plans for quality. Assist in the review and evaluation of resilience plans and procedures. Ensure that operational resilience plan roles are addressed as necessary in alignment with per policy (MIP-30). Implement effective working relationships with CBS leaders and support the documentation of operational resilience plans. Educate end-users, managers, and support team members about the need to develop strong, coordinated operational resilience plans. Train plan owners, approvers, and resilience coordinators and provide ongoing support as required. Monitor and report on the preparedness of CBS with regular engagement across senior roles within the organization. Guide the design and facilitate annual exercising of corporate business resilience plans per policy (MIP-30). Maintain communication with the Disaster Recovery representative. Mentor more junior members of the Business Resilience Office. Represent the Business Resilience Office on occasion as an Alternate for the Head of Global Business Resilience. Support the management of real events (incidents, crises etc.) and facilitate cross-functional resilience response activities. Support the Head of Global Business Resilience in aligning all resilience initiatives and goals with the goals of the organization and IT capabilities. Complete other duties as assigned. Candidate Profile: Personal Attributes and Competencies: Ability to manage multiple projects from start to finish. Ability to motivate, influence and manage associates who do not report to you to complete required deliverables. Good interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all levels of management. High degree of initiative, personal responsibility, and ownership. Ability to execute responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop and maintain a working knowledge of the organization. Specific Candidate Profile: At least seven years of experience on an enterprise Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery team. Certified planner preferred. Knowledge of current operational resilience planning techniques and technologies. Knowledge of The Fusion Framework tool and/or Salesforce based applications highly desirable. Working knowledge of data processing and data/voice telecommunications preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office software. Other Desirable Attributes: Ability to work outside normal office hours (nights and weekends) during crises or business interruptions. Limited travel may be required (less than 10%).
