Family Support Specialist , you will be pivotal in supporting children, youth, and families facing life’s toughest challenges. Whether you provide hands-on case management, help to develop life skills, or provide emotional support, your work will directly impact the lives of those we serve. What We’re Looking For: A solid commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others Experience working in social services, education, mental health, or related fields (preferred but not required) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—you're a connector, a listener, and a problem solver A passion for lifelong learning and professional development Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and work collaboratively with diverse teams A growth mindset that aligns with Wayfinder’s mission to empower and support marginalized communities How you will Impact Change: Conducts regular in-home visits that are family-centered, strength-based, and directed at establishing a trusting relationship. Completes the Family Resilience and Opportunities for Growth (FROG) Scale with parents to determine risk and resiliency factors. Regularly assesses the infants and children using the Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ-3, ASQ-SE) to determine developmental progress and needs. Assesses family needs, develops goals with parents and plans for the accomplishment of those goals in collaboration with the family. Provides resources, referrals and information to families as appropriate and supports the families in accessing support services. Qualifications Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate’s degree in a human service field (i.e., social work, sociology, psychology, early childhood education, child development, family studies) is preferred. Experience working with or providing services to children and families required. In-home visiting experience preferred. Bilingual (Spanish), preferred. Experience with or knowledge of the child welfare system and/or infants with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred. Willingness and ability to make frequent field visits, attend meetings, conferences and other job related events away from headquarters. If driving a personal vehicle, must be approved by our agency’s automobile insurance carrier.
