Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED Equivlant required.
Ability to live and work in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan
environment.
Must pass a criminal background check.
1. 18 Years of age or older. 2. A high school diploma, General Educational Development (GED) equivalency, or
other high school equivalency credential is required. 3. Familiarity with Apple and PC based systems and
software applications preferred 4. Experience working with electronic mail, word processing, and spreadsheet
software is desired. 5. Applicants must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the
apprenticeship program, with or without a reasonable accommodation, and without posing a direct threat to the
health and safety of the individual or others. 6. Willingness to commit to a 1-year program. 7. Ability to attend
class online and travel to Bethel for training sessions if needed. 8. Ability to live and work in a cross-cultural, rural
Alaskan environment. 9. Ability to travel to village schools by small airplane, boat, or ice road; expect occasional
overnights in villages. 10. Ability to successfully carry out the duties listed below.
Duties: 1. Complete a monthly On the Job Training report between the Apprentice and Supervisor.
2. Work with district mentors in the installation of: - network hardware (switches, access points, cabling). - network
printers and phones. - security camera hardware, switches, and cabling - troubleshooting and replacing distance
delivery equipment. 3. Verify power (user UPS, circuit breakers, etc.). 4. Assist in the troubleshooting of network
hardware, printers, and phones. 5. Perform basic troubleshooting of Apple and PC based hardware and software.
6. Remove browser highjacks, VPNs, malware, and viruses. 7. Maintain asset tracking and reset devices for re-
use.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Temporary Full-Time 40 hrs/wk, 220 days/year.
