A Day In The Life
Job Duties:
- Circuit design, hardware verification, and validation of new products, both by hands-on effort and in assistance to other team members.
- Responsibilities range from component/circuit design and review, through layout supervision and review, to prototype bring-up, testing, and documentation.
- Write SOW documents outlining Hardware Design requirements for offshore teams.
- Work with offshore teams on a weekly basis to make progress on the tasks/projects, resolve technical queries.
- Conduct design reviews on various circuit and board designs.
- Perform hardware verification tests and support system verification tests.
- Develop methods to instrument signals in units under tests, using hard connections or utilizing FPGA access or similar methods.
- Load embedded software images on prototypes, maintain adapters and pods, and document methods for other team members and production.
- Interface with the production team to arrange and track development/test rework.
- Troubleshoot prototypes in the bring-up phase and afterwards, assist in identifying design or manufacturability problems.

Qualifications:
- Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field and at least 5 years of progressive experience as a Design Engineer or in a related role working with digital and analog components.
- At least 5 years of experience in design and development, analyzing and troubleshooting circuits comprised of microprocessors and their support devices, DSPs, Xilinx and Actel FPGAs, high-speed analog devices, communication interfaces, Ethernet hardware (MAC, PHY, Switches), and power supplies.
- At least 5 years of experience with schematic capture tools, including board layout tools Allegro, Altium, and simulation tools.
- At least 5 years of experience with mitigating regulatory compliance issues, including EMC and EMI compliance.
- At least 5 years of experience investigating and troubleshooting technical issues, including failure and effect analysis.
- Demonstrable experience performing electronic circuit rework and repairs, including installing/replacing surface-mount components as small as 0603-size.
