What You Will Do
Oversee the Payroll area by providing structure, oversight and guidance. Design forms, processes, and reports to provide service to employees, departments, necessary agencies, vendors, and the state. Responsible for furnishing timely and accurate bi-weekly and semi-monthly paychecks for all employees (FT, PT, Student, Faculty, and Extra Help) across 4 payrolls through the development, analysis, translating and administering of payroll processing systems; and the monitoring of the adherence to internal controls, systems, tax laws, bargaining unit contracts and auditing of special ad hoc reports.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration, Finance, or a field closely related to the position 5 years of experience in roles with documented progressive responsibilities in payroll. Demonstrated experience supervising staff
Position is responsible to ensure internal controls are in place and in compliance. Incumbent must have sufficient knowledge and experience with all federal and state labor and payroll laws including immigration laws, and IRS Code. Incumbent must be able to understand the Banner HR system, Argos, eprint, and the relational database effects of a shared enterprise system. Must have full understanding of accounting practices and procedures and understand state fund accounting and position control budgeting. Incumbent needs to understand, interpret and communicate applicable all state statutes, agency rules and accounting practices.

Illinois Residency Requirement:
Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Driver’s License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days is grounds for immediate separation.

Veterans:
