REPORTS TO: Principals of Jasper High School and Jasper Middle School
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Career Counselor is critical in guiding grades 6-12 students through career exploration, high school transition, and preparation for postsecondary success. With a strong emphasis on the 3E initiative, Enrollment, Enlistment, and Employment, this position supports students in aligning their academic paths with Indiana's new diploma requirements and Dubois County graduation profile expectations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides individual and group counseling focused on career awareness, exploration, and planning. Collaborates closely with the County Director of Workforce Readiness to support seamless student transitions into postsecondary education, military service, or the workforce. Coordinates programs and services that help students meet requirements and achieve success under the new Indiana diploma framework. Leads eighth-grade students through the high school transition process, including diploma pathway selection and planning for career and technical education opportunities. Supports students in grades 6-7 with foundational career exploration and introduction to the Indiana Career Explorer platform, including interest and skills assessments and Indiana Graduation Plan. Guides 9th-12th grade students in refining career goals, preparing for work-based learning, credentialing, and postsecondary applications. Coordinates the student/school side of major career readiness events, ensuring preparedness and understanding of goals by students, staff and administration, including: 8th Grade Career Cruise, 9th Grade Tour of Opportunity, 11th & 12th Grade Job Fair, Senior Decision Day Coordinates the new Ninth Grade Academy - ensuring all 9th graders understand and are prepared to continue successfully through grades 10-12. Coordinates 220 Leadership Work-Based Learning Experience - Students looking to earn the states Enrollment+ seal on their diploma. Manages and monitors student progress toward meeting Dubois County Graduation Profile indicators (employability skills, postsecondary competencies, and credentials) for students in grades 7-12. Works with the county Workforce Readiness Director to build and maintain partnerships with local employers, postsecondary institutions, military recruiters, and community organizations. Collaborates with school counselors, educators, and administrators to integrate career readiness into academic programming. Provides additional support to Jasper High School Academic Services counselors during peak counseling times. Collects, analyzes, and reports data to inform programming, improve outcomes, and ensure accountability. Completes other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Education and/or Experience: Must have a valid Indiana Educator License. A Master's degree and certification in school counseling or a related field is preferred. Experience in career development, workforce readiness, or postsecondary advising is strongly desired.

Strong understanding of career concentrators, new diploma requirements, and state-level college and career readiness initiatives. Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skills. Proficient with digital career exploration tools (e.g., Indiana Career Explorer) and student data systems. Ability to design and deliver engaging career readiness activities for diverse student populations. Commitment to helping students identify and achieve meaningful postsecondary goals.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Subject to the Master Contract between the Greater Jasper Consolidated Schools and the Jasper Classroom Teachers Association - 188 Contract Days.
