Overview
Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen, Texas, is searching for a full-time organist / music director. The parish has a school serving pre-school to 8th grade. Candidates should have a working knowledge of Catholic liturgy and strong organ, vocal, conducting, and organizational skills.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Plan music for Sunday and Holy Day Masses
Schedule and train cantors
Play for the Sunday vigil Mass and three Masses on Sunday
Play for funerals and weddings
Organize and direct the parish adult choir
Strengthen and help develop the children’s choir
Collaborate with the school music teacher for weekly school Mass
Our Lady of Sorrows parish continues to implement the vision of Vatican II by encouraging the singing of the assembly. The parish has an eclectic repertoire from chant and hymnody to the best of contemporary offerings.
